Dear friends and colleagues,
The Nordic Pianotreff is now back with it's 13th convention.
Welcome
to two days of interesting seminars and many meetings with new and
old friends and colleagues!
This year we will meet at Växjö Concert House, a concert
hall and
conference center, which means we are going to have the hotel and
all the seminars in the same facilities.

Växjö is situated in the middle of southern Sweden with
good travel
connections with Copenhagen, Kastrup, Malmö, Stockholm and
Gothenburg.
We are at the moment working with the program, and below
is a
preliminary presentation. Please note that this can be subject to
changes.

Program
Press-stop: Jahn Pianoteile will hold an installation seminar
for KORG Hybrid Pianos on Thursday 14th, the day before the Treff
starts. More info below.
For this years Pianotreff we have tried to gather seminars that
cover several different parts of the broad field of knowledge that
today's piano technician has to deal with. As we know, our profession
often finds itself in the intersection between technology, craft
and musicianship.
Central for us all is of course our own craft. We welcome Firma
Louis Renner who presents a work-shop clinic, taken from their education
program. A new set of hammers will be installed in a Malmsjö
grand piano on site. How do I choose the right hammers? What are
the pitfalls? How should they be installed?
Another important issue during renovation is the bass strings.
Jonas Svensson from Smålands Klaververkstad will hold a pedagogic
and very informative lecture on the making of new bass strings.
We are also very honoured to see Dr Ingbert Blüthner-Haessler
from Blüthner pianofortefabrik as a lecturer. He will talk
about something often considered as central in our profession -
the importance of voicing.
Some of the contributions takes the pianists point of view. Professor
Stefan Bojsten uses his broad pedagogic and musical experience to
talk about the important but sometimes overlooked right pedal. Kjell
Edstrand uncovers the disadvantages (or advantages?) of the digital
piano versus the acoustic piano, from the point of view of the practising
pianist or pedagogue.
Local piano pedagogues and students will be invited to an "Open
House" at the conluding two seminars on Saturday.
The pianists Stefan Bojsten and Kjell Edstrand will be giving us
their perspectives from the pianists point of view. We also hope
to have a small concert where Stefan Bojsten plays on several of
the Grand pianos avaiable in our Grand Piano Exhibition.
Anders Askenfelt at Royal Technical College has for many years
been doing internationally acknowledged research into the piano.
We are very glad to present two reports made by students from his
institution. Fredrik Öberg has made an extensive investigation
about the duplex systems in the grand piano, based on both physical
measurements and controlled blind tests. Roland Hogman, also using
the blind test method, has looked at how musicians are influenced
or not by different stretch in the treble octaves. Exciting information
we hope!
As usual the Danish company Knud Danielsen A/S, Pianoparts
will display their tools, materials and everything else you will
possibly need. You can see their homepage at Knud
Danielsen A/S.
Beside a number of exhibitors like Knud Danielsen,
Firma Juhl-Sørensen, Yamaha Pianocenter Stockholm, Julius
Blüthner Pianofortefabrik, Wendl & Lung, Damppchaser, Mats
Fontander and Jahn Pianoteile, the Jahn company will
hold an extra seminar outside the Treff's regular program. See information
