Dear colleagues!
The new Pianotreff website at www.pianotreff.nu
is now open. It will still take some time to make it complete, but
the most important things concerning the next Pianotreff in Finland
are now available.
It is now possible to begin to register online!
If you have any problems in your registration, please contact websupport@pianotreff.nu.
And if you have questions, you are also welcome to ask!
Please notice that your registration will only be completed when
you have paid the fee to the Finnish Piano Tuners' bank account.
This you have to do before August 29th 2003 - after that we can't
guarantee you a hotel room.
The lectures begin at nine a.m. so it might be advisable to arrive
already on Thursday evening. Stay tuned - you will get more information
along the way!
See you at the Treff!

Nordisk Pianotreff 2003
=======================
This year's Nordisk Pianotreff is going to be held in Helsinki,
Finland. The lecture dates are going to be the 17th and the 18th
October. The place where we are having it, is at the Hanaholmen
(www.hanaholmen.fi) hotel on the outskirts of Helsinki, on a nice
place by the sea.
The whole convention is going to happen inside the walls of the
hotel, so it should be fairly easy to enjoy both the professional
lectures and the nice atmosphere of technicians meeting each other.
At the moment the planning process is still not quite completed,
but the official registration information will be given out later
in April.
A new Pianotreff homepage with on-line registration is under construction
and will be announced as soon as possible. For the time being there
is some information at the old site:
www.sptf.com/pianotreff/
There you can also subscribe to the Pianotreff newsletter - just
relax and get all the information to your own e-mail.
Program
=======
We are going to have lecturers both from Finland and abroad. So
far (changes are possible!) the list looks very interesting, and
let's hope everyone will find new experiences there!
- Pekka Vapaavuori, the head master of Sibelius Academy, who is
specialized in historic keyboard instruments, talks about... well...
historic keyboard instruments.
- Arno Pelto, a Finnish harpsichord builder, and Pertti J. Nieminen,
a researcher from TTY (Tampere University of Technology) talk about
Finnish Thermo Wood (heat treated wood) and its use in instrument
building, pros and cons.
- Udo Schmidt-Steingraeber, from Steingraeber & Soehne, is
giving a lecture on the subject "Construction design in the
past and today - by examples of some Steingraeber models"
- Gûnther Schaible from the Ludwigsburg school gives a lecture
about experiences with glue.
- André Oorebeek a concert technician from Holland, talking
about grand regulation and voicing and learning it.
- Robi de Godzinsky, a recording engineer from Finland who now
teaches recording engineers in Sibelius Academy, is talking about
different styles of recording the piano sound, with examples with
a live pianist and a Steingraeber grand.
- André Oorebeek and Arnold Duin from Holland are talking
about the evolution of the ETD's, ending up in the Verituner. Arnold
Duin teaches in the Pianotechnicians' school in Amsterdam.
- Jan Grossbach tells us how to find out the age of a piano.
The main language of the convention will be english.
You are all most welcome to Finland!
